The AustralianSuper Trustee Board is made up of six member representatives and six employer representatives.

Elana Rubin is a Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). She was the Chair of ARF from 1994 to 1997, and Executive Director - Investments of ARF from 1997 to 2006. Elana is currently a Director of Mirvac Group Ltd, TAL (previously Tower) and the not-for-profit food rescue organisation, SecondBite. She is also a member of Infrastructure Australia Council (Commonwealth) and Evans & Partners Advisory Board. Elana has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Master of Arts, Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment, and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees, FINSIA and the Australian Institute of Management. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women.

John Ingram is an Employer Director nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group). John is currently the Chair of Nick Scali Ltd and a non executive Director of UGL Limited. His previous experience includes Chair of Wattyl Ltd, a non-executive Director with Savcor Ltd and the Rinker Group Ltd, a Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, and Managing Director of the Crane Group Ltd.

Brian Daley is a Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). Brian is the National President of United Voice and has had a long-serving career in the superannuation industry. Brian is also a Director of Industry Super Property Trust and Host Plus Pty Ltd, and was a representative of the ACTU to the Federal Government summit, which developed the Superannuation Guarantee contribution. Brian is also a member of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees’ Governance and Professional Standards Committee.

Lucio Di Bartolomeo is an Employer Director nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group). He is Chair of Macquarie Generation and a non-executive Director of Downer EDI, Australian Rail Track Corporation and the National President of the Ai Group. Lucio's previous experience includes Managing Director of ADI Limited and Country Director of Thales Australia. Lucio has held several senior positions within the transport industry including Managing Director of FreightCorp and President of the Australasian Railway Association. He is a qualified civil engineer and has a Master's degree in Engineering Science.

Paul Howes is a Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). He is currently the National Secretary of the Australian Workers' Union (AWU), a position he was elected to in 2007 and has been a union official since 1999. Paul is the Vice President of the ACTU, a member of the National Executive of the Australian Labor Party, a member of the executive of the International Metalworkers Federation and serves on a number of Government boards.

Jeff Lawrence is a Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). He is currently the Secretary of the ACTU and has served the union movement for more than 30 years. Jeff’s prior experience includes heading the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union (LHMU – now United Voice) and he has worked as a senior member of the ACTU Executive. Jeff has qualifications in Arts/Law (Hons) from the University of Sydney.

Simone McGurk is a Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). She is currently the Secretary of UnionsWA and has a long history of member advocacy through her 20 years in the union movement. Her prior experience includes roles at the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union and United Voice. As well as her trade union work, Simone has media experience in broadcasting. Simone was a Trustee Director on Westscheme superannuation fund and is currently a member of the ACTU Executive, and the WA State Training Board. Simone has a degree in History and Politics and a degree in Media.

Dave Oliver is a Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). He is currently the National Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) and has worked with the Union for more than 20 years. Other roles with the AMWU have included Assistant National Secretary, State Secretary of the Victorian Branch, State Organiser of the NSW Branch. Dave established and is currently a Director of the National Entitlement Security Trust (NEST), the first Industry Trust Fund with national coverage established to provide protection and portability of workers entitlements. He is also the ACTU Vice President and is an Australian Labor Party Delegate to State and National Conferences. Dave is a current member of the Resource Sector Skills Taskforce Sub Committee, the Automotive Industry Innovation Council, the Future Manufacturing Industry Innovation Council, and the Defence Industry Innovation Board.

Tim Poole is an Employer Director nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) and Chair of the AustralianSuper Investment Committee. Tim is also a non-executive director of Newcrest Mining (ASX listed), Lifestyle Communities (ASX listed), and the Victoria Racing Club. He is Chairman of Westbourne Credit Management Limited, Continuity Capital Partners Pty Ltd and the LEK Consulting advisory board.
Tim’s previous experience includes the establishment and operation of a large number of funds for Hastings Funds Management Ltd as an executive and later, as Managing Director of the company. Prior to this he worked in taxation services at Price Waterhouse (1990 to 1995). Tim has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Heather Ridout is an Employer Director nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group). She is due to step down from her current role as Chief Executive of Ai Group on 30 April 2012 but she will remain the Ai Group nominee to the AustralianSuper Board. Heather is a member of a number of key national policy setting and consultative groups including the National Workplace Relations Consultative Committee; Infrastructure Australia; Skills Australia and the Prime Minister’s Taskforce on Manufacturing. Mrs Ridout has various other appointments including Board member of the Reserve Bank of Australia, and Director Sims Metal Management and was also a member of the Henry Tax Review, Business Roundtable on Climate Change, the Prime Minister's Business Taskforce on Flood Recovery and chaired the Productivity and Prosperity Advisory Panel of the Population Strategy Task Force.

Alison Terry is an Employer Director nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), bringing expertise in government relations, legal and regulatory exposures and financial management to the AustralianSuper Board. She is currently Head of Automotive & Corporate Affairs for Better Place Australia, and was previously GM Holden's Executive Director of Corporate Affairs from 2001 to 2008, Director of Government Relations and Public Policy from 1999 to 2001 and General Counsel from 1991 to 1997. Alison has a Bachelor of Economics and Law (Hons) and a Graduate Diploma of Business (Accounting) and currently holds positions on the Boards of NBN Tasmania Limited and EV Engineering Limited.

Grahame Willis is an Employer Director nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group). He was the Executive Director of Finance, Administration and Superannuation at Ai Group with whom he was employed for 42 years. He has extensive experience in general management, financial management, legal issues and superannuation. In his position with the Ai Group, he was responsible for the national financial, legal and corporate management of the organisation and its subsidiaries, including management of the investment portfolio and staff superannuation fund. In 1997 Grahame received the Trustee of the Year Award at the Conference of Major Superannuation Funds and is a foundation Fellow of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (FAIST). Grahame has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

Nixon is a member of AustralianSuper’s Investment Committee nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). He brings a wealth of experience to the Committee having worked as a Director at the Australian Trade Commission and the National Institute of Economic and Industry Research, along with a depth of experience with the ACTU including roles as the Industry and Investment Policy Adviser and as a research officer. Nixon is a strong advocate of industry superannuation funds. He served on the Board of STA and its Investment Committee from 1997. He has also been published widely on economic and industry development issues.

Mark Boyd is an alternate Member Director of the AustralianSuper Board nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). He is currently the NSW Branch Secretary of United Voice. Mark has served on numerous Superannuation Boards, Industry Advisory Boards and was a founding Board Member of Sydney Alliance and Campaign Action.

Peter Burn was appointed as a member of AustralianSuper's Investment Committee on 29 May 2009. Peter is also an alternate Employer Director nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) on the AustralianSuper Board. Peter is Director – Public Policy at the Ai Group. His responsibilities range across Ai Group’s public policy interests including environment and climate policy; taxation; innovation; infrastructure; industry policy and business regulation. Prior to joining Ai Group Peter was a Policy Director at the Business Council of Australia. He has also held a number of academic posts after beginning his professional career in the Commonwealth Treasury. Peter has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of New England and completed a PhD in Economics at the University of New South Wales.

Leon Carter is an alternate Member Director of the AustralianSuper Board nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). Leon has been working in the Finance Sector Union (FSU) in various roles since 1996. He is currently the National Secretary of the FSU and has a sound knowledge of industrial relations.

Liam O’Brien is a member of the AustralianSuper Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee. Liam is also an alternate Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) on the AustralianSuper Board. As the National Organiser for the Australian Workers Union (AWU) Liam has a sound knowledge of industrial legislation and processes.

Michele O’Neil is an alternate Member Director on the AustralianSuper Board nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). She is currently the National Secretary of the Textile Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia. Michele is also a Vice President of the International Textile Garment and Leather Workers Federation. She has been appointed by Government to represent the industry and Union on a variety of Government bodies including the National TCF Innovation Council and the Victorian Industry Manufacturing Council which advise Government on manufacturing policy. Michele is a Director of Manufacturing Skills Australia and a committee member of the national joint Union/Industry body, Ethical Clothing Australia.

George Stamas is an alternate Employer Director of the AustralianSuper Board, nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group). He has over 30 years’ experience in corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, financial management, large scale business development and expansion. He has held senior corporate roles with Mayne Nickless, Electrolux & Tempo services. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Board Director of Facility Management Association of Australia, Victorian President and National Vice President of Building Service Contractors Association of Australia. Since 1988, George has held the position of Managing Director at GJK Facility Services. He is also a member of numerous community and charitable organisations.

David Whiteley is a member of the AustralianSuper Audit, Compliance and Risk Management Committee. David is also an alternate Member Director nominated by the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) of the AustralianSuper Board. David is currently the Chief Executive of Industry Super Network (ISN), advocating on issues of significance for industry super funds and their members. He is also a Director of ACTU Member Connect, and is on the Investment Advisory Board of Industry Funds Management. David was previously General Manager of the ACTU’s commercial arm, ACTU Member Connect and has worked in financial, commercial and industrial roles in Australia and the UK. David has a BA (Hons) and Masters of Commerce.

Geoff Ashton is a member of the AustralianSuper Investment Committee. He was a Director and Chairperson nominated by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) until he retired from the AustralianSuper Board on 30 June 2007. He is past President of the Ai Group and has been involved as a Trustee Director within the superannuation industry since 1997. He has a broad and solid portfolio including previous positions as the non-executive Chairman for Leighton Holdings and non-executive Chairman of the Sydney Ferries Corporation as well as Director positions at the State Transit Authority NSW and Bridgeport Advisors Asset Management. Geoff is currently Chairman of Frontier Investment Consulting and a Director of the Board of Superpartners.

Mike Nicolaides was appointed as a member of the Member and Employer Services Committee on 25 August 2008. Previously he was an alternate Member Director of the AustralianSuper Board and a Director on the STA Board. Mike is also currently the Assistant National Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) where he is involved in the implementation of policy and the formulation and implementation of budgets. Mike has a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Environmental Science from Monash University and is currently completing a Masters degree in Workplace and Employment Law.
