AustralianSuper has achieved the highest possible ratings awarded by four independent superannuation ratings organisations that measure the overall quality of a fund.

Some of the criteria used to assess a fund include:

  • Value for money
  • Fund operations and management
  • Investments
  • Fees.

Below is a brief overview of the four superannuation ratings organisations.

SuperRatings

SuperRatings Platinum Rating

SuperRatings is an independent research organisation that aims to provide ratings of funds to help members compare the overall value for money of super funds. Over 120 superannuation funds participate in the ratings, which involve a comprehensive analysis by SuperRatings. AustralianSuper holds a Platinum rating by SuperRatings. Platinum is their highest rating.

AustralianSuper also received "Fund of the Year" and "Best New Product" finalist nominations for 2006/2007. These awards focus on funds that provide "value for money" and "innovative products" to its members.

SuperRatings rate most of Australia's largest multi-employer superannuation funds, including retail master trusts, industry funds, public sector and corporate funds.

Rainmaker AAA Rating

The Chant West rating does not constitute financial product advice. However to the extent that the information may be considered to be general financial product advice then Chant West warns that: (a) Chant West has not considered any individual’s objectives, financial situation or particular needs; and (b) individuals need to consider whether the advice is appropriate in light of their goals, objectives and current situation.

** The Heron Partnership (“Heron”) utilises a holistic methodology to assess and rate the various components of a superannuation fund, grouped under 5 Areas of Importance developed by Heron of Investment Arrangements, Contributions, Ancillary Benefits, Communications and Insurance.

Heron assesses about 150 features under these Areas of Importance to develop its comparative product ratings (“the Heron ratings”). Heron’s primary goal with the Heron ratings is to provide a realistic and objective representation of the strengths and weaknesses of a product. Heron’s Quality Star Ratings for superannuation funds have 5 levels:

AustralianSuper Workplace, AustralianSuper Corporate and AustralianSuper Personal have all been awarded with 5 Stars.
The Heron ratings are based on analysis of information such as product disclosure statements provided by third parties, as well as general market knowledge. Such information is considered to be accurate at the time a particular product is rated by Heron. However, Heron gives no guarantee or warranty and makes no representation as to the accuracy or correctness of any third party information and accepts no responsibility for any inaccuracy or incompleteness in the third party information provided to it. Heron makes no guarantee or warranty in relation to the investment component or rate of return of any product that it rates. The Heron ratings have been produced without taking into account an individual’s financial needs, circumstances and objectives. To the extent that the Heron ratings may constitute financial product advice, they are general financial product advice only, and any person should, before acting on such advice, assess the appropriateness of the advice having regard to their own financial situation and consult a licensed financial adviser before making any changes to their financial affairs. Please refer to Heron’s Financial Services Guide for Superannuation Ratings for additional information about that organisation and their ratings methodology at www.heronpartners.com.au
