AustralianSuper Clearinghouse Option

AustralianSuper’s clearing house service

QuickSuper, our clearing house service for contributions to non-AustralianSuper members, is provided free-of-charge to employers who meet specific eligibility conditions. The service is managed by Westpac and offers a simple and secure way to manage both the payment and administration of employee super contributions.

To be eligible to use the free clearing house:

  1. You must be registered with AustralianSuper. You can register online. It takes about 5 minutes.
  2. AustralianSuper must be your default fund.
  3. More than 50% of your total number of employees must be members of AustralianSuper.

Find out more about how it works with the QuickSuper guide. We do not recommend this clearinghouse for those employers with fewer than 20 employees.

Becoming eligible to use our clearing house

If more than 50% of your employees are members of AustralianSuper, all you need to do is:

  1. Make AustralianSuper your company’s default fund:
    • nominate AustralianSuper as your workplace default fund on the Standard Choice form
    • include a superannuation clause in a Workplace Agreement.
  2. Read our Terms and conditions, ensure you meet the eligibility requirements and register for QuickSuper.

Example

Your company has two default super funds - AustralianSuper and Super Fund B and you have a total of 60 staff.

Total  staff in factory default fund - AustralianSuper Total  staff in office default fund – Super Fund B  Office & factory staff in other funds
 40 (67%)  8 (13%)  12 (20%)

In this example, AustralianSuper is a default fund for more than 50% of your total staff and more than 50% of your total employees are members of AustralianSuper. Your company would be eligible to use the clearing house to allocate contributions for the 20 staff not using AustralianSuper, at no cost to you.

This means you would send contribution payments as follows:

a) for the 40 AustralianSuper members, send directly to AustralianSuper through your choice of available options such as electronic or payroll file; and

b) for the 20 non-AustralianSuper members, send to the QuickSuper clearing house.

How to apply for the clearing house service
