Tax File Numbers
Employers are required by law to pass their employees Tax File Numbers (as quoted on their Tax Declaration Form) on to their super fund for authorised purposes.
You will need to quote your employee's TFN by the later of:
- The end of the 14th day after the date the employee quotes their TFN to you; or
- The end of the day on which you make the first super contribution for that employee.
You can provide a Tax File Number through:
- Our Membership Application form completed by your employees
- Your monthly Contribution Advice
Employers who fail to meet these obligations will incur a financial penalty as determined by the Australian Tax Office.
Important note
Unless you hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL), or are an authorised representative of an organisation that holds an AFSL, you cannot recommend any financial products or give advice about any superannuation funds.
Breaches of the relevant legislation could expose employers to hefty fines and/or imprisonment.
Any person wanting advice about financial products should seek advice from an Australian Financial Services licensee or an authorised representative of a Licensee.
