The Investment Committee Chairman is Bernie Fraser, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
The committee is assisted by AustralianSuper’s investment advisers, JANA Investment Advisers and Frontier Investment Consulting, who provide expert advice, research and analysis on the Fund's investments.
We use a range of leading investment managers specialising in Australian and overseas assets.
The AustralianSuper Board selects investment managers based on the advice and recommendations made by the Investment Committee. In selecting investment managers, it considers a number of factors, including:
- Strength of the investment firm, its management structure and ownership
- Investment process used by the manager
- Strength of the investment team
- Performance track record
- Whether the manager complements AustralianSuper’s other investment managers.
Monitoring and review
The Investment Committee monitors a range of investment issues relating to the fund and the investment managers. It meets monthly to assess investment strategy and review the performance of individual managers and asset classes.
The Committee also conducts a formal Manager Review Program, where it reviews every investment manager at least once every year, and sometimes more often.
In-house investment team
Our investment team is responsible for ongoing monitoring of all AustralianSuper portfolios and external investment managers. The team also manages performance reporting and analysis for the 16 investment options.
