You can only access your superannuation if you: reach preservation age, meet the financial hardship or compassionate grounds requirements, or are a temporary resident leaving Australia permanently.

There are a few different ways to help you find your unclaimed super; the ATO, AusFund or your previous employer or workmates may remember the name of the old fund.

You can only make a financial hardship claim if you are receiving Commonwealth Income Support Payments and have been for a continuous period of 26 weeks or more. You can only make a compassionate grounds claim if you receive approval directly from APRA. Call AustralianSuper on 1300 300 273 for more information.

A letter of compliance is neccessary when nominating AustralianSuper as the eligible fund for your superannuation contributions.

Salary sacrifice is an arrangement between you and your employer where you choose to give up or 'sacrifice' part of your before-tax salary to add it directly into your superannuation account.
