Who can invest?

You must be an AustralianSuper member with at least $10,000 in your account to register for the Member Direct investment option. Pension and corporate members cannot currently invest in this option.

Once you register for the Member Direct option you must keep at least $5,000 invested in one or more of AustralianSuper’s other investment options and $200 in your Member Direct option transaction account at all times.

Provided you meet these conditions you can invest:

  • up to 80% of your total AustralianSuper account balance in shares and ETFs
  • as much of your remaining AustralianSuper account balance in term deposits as you like

Who does it suit

The Member Direct option is designed for members who want to have a high level of control over their super investment strategy and investment selection. It offers many of the advantages of a self managed super fund (SMSF) at a fraction of the cost of one.

Please note: Superannuation is a long-term investment, so the AustralianSuper Member Direct option is not suitable for members who want to ‘time’ the markets or make short-term investment decisions. We strongly recommend you consult a licensed financial adviser before investing in this option.
