Superannuation may not be something you take time to think about every day. Whether you're changing jobs, planning for retirement or just wanting to check your balance, spending a few minutes today, could save you time and hassle in the future.
1. Could we contact you if we needed to?
Moved house, changed your name or got a new email or mobile number? Keeping your personal details current helps make sure you don’t miss important updates about your account. For simple updates like your address or email, you generally won’t need supporting documents, you’ll just need to fill out a form which you can find on our website here. You are also able to update some details via the Portal and the App. If you’re changing your name, gender or date of birth, you’ll need to complete the appropriate form and provide certified proof, such as a marriage certificate, change of name certificate, driver licence, passport, birth certificate or government-issued proof of age card.
2. Can you log in to your online account?
Your online account is a simple way to check your balance, view transactions, and update preferences – including how you’d like us to contact you.
If you’re having trouble logging in, it could be due to an old email or mobile number, forgotten password, browser issues, or extra security checks. Try resetting your password, checking your details are up to date, clearing your browser cache, or switching your browser or device. If you still can’t log in, contact us. You can choose the option that works best for you on our website.
3. Getting ready to withdraw your super?
A little preparation can help make the process of withdrawing your super smoother. Before you apply, check that you're eligible to access your super and make sure your personal details are up to date. Having your identification and bank account details ready can also help avoid delays.
The information and documents you'll need may depend on why you're accessing your super, such as retirement, severe financial hardship, compassionate grounds or transferring your super to another fund. Checking the requirements before you apply can save time and help you submit a complete application the first time.
4. Should I combine my super into one account?
You might have more than one super account if you've changed jobs over the years, started a new account with a different employer, or lost track of an old account.
Not sure if you have other super accounts? You can check through the ATO by logging into your myGov account and linking it to the ATO. You'll be able to view any super accounts held in your name, including any lost or unclaimed super.
Before consolidating, consider any fees or charges that may apply, and the effect a transfer may have on benefits in your other fund such as insurance cover. We recommend you consider seeking financial advice. If you wish to claim a tax deduction for personal super contributions, you must lodge a notice of intent to claim a tax deduction with your other fund and receive confirmation it has been processed before you combine your super.
If you decide consolidating is right for you, you can usually roll over your other super accounts online through your super fund or via the ATO.

5. Have you decided who gets your super?
Your super may not automatically form part of your estate, so it’s important to tell us who you’d like it to go to if you die. You can do this by nominating one or more beneficiaries, such as a dependant or your legal personal representative.
A non-binding nomination tells your fund your preference, but the trustee will still consider who should receive your super under super law. A binding nomination must be followed if it’s valid and in force when assessed. Checking this now can help give you and the people close to you more certainty later.
