AustralianSuper is a large and growing global investor
With more than A$410 billion in assets under management1, we’re Australia’s largest super fund2 and the 17th largest pension fund in the world3.
Superannuation is Australia’s A$4.5 trillion compulsory retirement savings system4. It is recognised as one of the best pension systems in the world5 and set to become the second largest pension market in the world by 2035, surpassing both the Canadian and UK markets6.
As Australia’s most trusted super fund7, and the largest participant in this growing market, AustralianSuper continues to experience substantial growth.
Over the past 10 years, our assets under management have grown at an annual average rate of 16% per annum8 – and by 2030, they are forecast to reach $600 billion.
That means it’s a really exciting time to join AustralianSuper.
A driven investor with a clear purpose
We’re a profit-for-member fund that actively invests the retirement savings of more than 3.6 million members1. Our purpose is to help members achieve their best financial position in retirement. As a profit-for-member fund, operating in a competitive market, members are at the core of everything we do. This underscores our absolute focus on driving investment returns for members.
How we invest
We’re an active global investor with a long-term investment horizon and broad investment mandate. We invest across all major asset classes and regions. This includes direct investments in large-scale unlisted opportunities.
Investment origination and management are undertaken directly by our in-house investment team and through a global network of valued investment partners.
Our portfolio is actively managed through asset allocation, sector mix and security selection, supported by proprietary research and an integrated approach to ESG and stewardship.
A global team with deep sector and transaction experience
With more than 400 investment professionals across 7 global offices1, we leverage our long-term investment horizon, scale and capability to access some of the most attractive investment opportunities globally for members.
Importantly, our One Fund approach means that our teams don’t operate in silos. We work in an open and collaborative environment, leveraging the skills and insights of our multi-asset class platform.
Almost 60% of the portfolio is now managed internally1.
Private market investments
As a long-term investor with a large and growing capital base, we seek a meaningful allocation to unlisted assets.
We’ve been investing in unlisted assets for more than 25 years, and today our private markets portfolio is valued at more than A$85 billion1.
Our ability to access private market opportunities is enhanced by our:
- on-the-ground presence in key investment markets
- deep investment expertise
- strategic relationships with valued investment partners
- strong, recurring cash inflows, which support long-term investment and ongoing deployment.
Some of our direct investments in Real Assets
Our growing global investment platform
As at 31 December 2025, more than A$240 billion (59% of the portfolio) was invested in international markets. And with assets under management forecast to reach A$600 billion in 2030, we expect this to continue to grow rapidly.
To support our global investment program and on-going growth in assets under management, we continue to actively build out our global investment capability.
On-the-ground presence in key investment markets
We were the first superannuation fund to set up an international office – and today we have offices in London, New York, Beijing and across Australia.
Our on-the-ground presence in key investment markets has allowed us to tap into global talent pools and build deeper capability across markets and sectors. It has also allowed us to establish and strengthen networks with investment partners.
By leveraging local knowledge and expertise we believe we have access to better global investment opportunities to help us deliver strong, long-term returns to members.
Our team is recognised for being authentic, open and honest. Our expertise adds value and our local presence in key markets facilitates greater collaboration and more efficient execution.
