Are you still in the same role you were hired for?

If you’d asked me six years ago whether I thought I’d end up in a 12‑month secondment in London with my family of four, I would’ve thought you were crazy.
(laughs)
When the position of International Recruitment Lead came up, I called my husband and said, “Would we be interested in moving to the UK?”
And he was like, “Absolutely.”
So we went for it.
Everything I’ve learned here will be so beneficial for my career when I go back. I can speak from experience — having worked in this office and spent time in the New York office.
How long have you worked at AustralianSuper?
Less than two years.
Two to five years.
More than five years.
Since I started at the fund almost six years ago, the fund has grown a lot. There are new teams, new roles, new departments — new groups that have formed while I’ve been here.
The number of learning and development programs the fund offers employees is ten times what I’d had before in my career. And that’s so important — it’s how you develop as a person and as an employee.

I’ve really enjoyed the move from banking to super. I like being part of a fund that’s growing, looking internationally, and caring more about global issues. It’s nice to feel I can add value in those areas.
The growth and development of my team is really important to me. It makes me happy and fulfilled to see my team developing — particularly lifting up female team members and providing strong mentoring.
Seeing what they can achieve, and helping smooth the path for them, really matters to me.

Our Investments team is responsible for managing members’ super contributions. Having made the decision to internalise a significant proportion of our investment activity, we have carefully established a team of talented and highly capable fund management professionals.

Strategy & Corporate Affairs
The Strategy & Corporate Affairs team acts as the Fund’s internal strategic advisers. They work with colleagues across the Fund to:
- shape the Fund’s strategy,
- act as custodians of the Fund’s reputation,
- and support AustralianSuper to be Australia’s leading superannuation fund for members.

Colleagues & Culture
Our Colleagues & Culture (C&C) team is responsible for the design and delivery of our human resource strategies, consisting of:

Working with all teams across the organisation, C&C ensures we have the framework in place that enables high performance, while maximising people engagement and experience.

Group Risk
Our Group Risk team is responsible for working closely with other teams across the business to make sure risk is managed effectively. They also ensure the risk is within the Fund’s risk appetite.
The team’s shared purpose is clear – every day and in different ways, we strive for risk accountability and to meet regulatory and legislative requirements so that we can safeguard the interests of the members.

The Technology, Digital and Data team partners across the Fund to deliver simple, secure and scalable technology that supports better outcomes for members.

Internal Audit
The Internal Audit team supports AustralianSuper’s third line of accountability through the provision of independent, professional and objective assurance and consulting activities.
They work with colleagues across the Fund to:
- provide independent assurance over governance, risk management and control processes,
- identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness,
- offer forward-looking insights on emerging risks and issues, and
- help enhance and protect organisational value.
