Committed people, delivering value
"AustralianSuper is one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, employing approximately 490 staff mostly in Australia - headquartered in Melbourne. We’re committed to helping members achieve their best possible retirement outcome through the provision of high value, low cost pre and post-retirement products and services.
We aim to have a workforce that is diverse and reflects our membership and broader community. The fund pursues a number of initiatives to promote improved workforce diversity outcomes, particularly in regard to gender balance, pay equity and flexible work arrangements.
"AustralianSuper is driving innovation and setting new standards in member retirement outcomes and service. We’ve recently established an office in Beijing, China to be closer to the world’s largest emerging market economy. We’ve also launched our online member portal and advice tools, raising the member services benchmark to a new level. To make such innovation happen and to achieve the best possible retirement outcomes for our members, we’re always seeking to attract the best talent."
Our values and culture
Members are at the centre of everything we do, and our aim is to provide them with the best possible retirement outcomes. This essence, together with our four organisational values of excellent outcomes, integrity, generosity of spirit and energy direct our behaviours and decisions.
Over the next 5 years AustralianSuper intends to continue to grow. We'll use our size, strength and overall capabilities to deliver market leading investment performance together with high quality, low cost, easy-to-use products and services that meet members’ needs.
To achieve this we will stay true to our organisational values and culture, constantly raising the bar, delivering on our promises, embracing teamwork and community and bringing innovation to the way we work. For example, we’ll be transitioning our investment management approach, placing greater emphasis on in-house investment teams, to strive for the best possible investment performance.
By following these values, and investing in our people, AustralianSuper can continue its track record of superior long-term investment performance, underpinned by high value retirement products and services available to all Australians.
Diversity and sustainability
AustralianSuper is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, recognising the right of staff to equal employment opportunity, with the entry to employment and career progression based on individual merit.
We've been recognised for our efforts so far. In 2015 the Workplace Gender Equality Agency awarded us the prestigious Employer of Choice for Women citation, which we've held for the past three years. We’ve put in place systems to ensure that women are in the pipeline for leadership and executive roles and are provided with the appropriate development. The Board of Directors has two female Directors (including the Chair).
Sustainability for AustralianSuper means aligning our sole purpose of helping members achieve their best possible retirement outcomes with meeting the economic, social and environmental responsibilities of our operation.
We’re aware of the importance of a sustainable economy, society and environment. For a super fund trustee these concerns are most prominent in relation to how we invest. We believe that integration of environment, social and governance (ESG) issues will be an important and ongoing challenge for AustralianSuper in the coming years. ESG concerns are becoming increasingly linked to our core values of putting members first, helping members achieve their best possible retirement outcomes, and offering a vibrant and supportive workplace.
Workplace gender equality
As a non-public sector employer with 100 or more employees, we are required to report annually to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). AustralianSuper’s 2015 Compliance Report has been submitted to WGEA. Any comments regarding the report can be directed to AustralianSuper or WGEA.
